Editorial Policy

Editorial Policy

TradeTrend is committed to responsible, accurate and independent journalism covering international commerce, industry, diplomacy, business, economic affairs and developments of public interest. Our editorial approach is guided by accuracy, fairness, context, transparency and respect for the public’s right to reliable information.

Accuracy and Verification

We make reasonable efforts to verify information before publication. Facts, figures, quotations, names, positions and other material details are checked against reliable sources, with particular attention to primary and official sources where they are available.

Where information cannot be independently verified, or where significant uncertainty remains, we make that limitation clear rather than presenting unconfirmed information as established fact.

Sources and Attribution

TradeTrend draws on a range of reliable sources, while placing particular value on original reporting and primary sources.

Our original journalism is produced through our reporters, correspondents, stringers and photographers, who contribute reporting, interviews, observations, photographs and other material from the field and from their respective areas of coverage. Material originating from our own editorial network is subject to the same standards of verification and editorial review as other published content.

We also use information from official government and institutional sources, including ministries, embassies, diplomatic missions, international organisations, official statements, press releases, communiqués, joint statements, official plans and documents, government statistics and company announcements.

Verified official websites and official social-media accounts of governments, ministries, embassies, international organisations, public officials and other institutions may also be used as primary or discovery sources where appropriate.

When material comes from news agencies, other media organisations or external publications, TradeTrend seeks to identify the original source clearly and accurately. We do not present material originating elsewhere as original TradeTrend reporting.

Attribution is based on the actual source of the information and is placed as close as reasonably possible to the information it supports. Where appropriate, stories may carry bylines, reporter or correspondent credits, photographic credits or other contributor acknowledgements.

We prefer named and identifiable sources wherever circumstances permit. Information from unnamed sources may be considered when there is a legitimate editorial reason to protect the source and the information is sufficiently credible to warrant publication. Such decisions remain subject to editorial judgment and verification.

Editorial Independence

TradeTrend maintains a clear editorial distinction between journalism and commercial interests. Advertisements, sponsorships, partnerships and other commercial arrangements do not determine our editorial conclusions or the selection of news and analysis.

Editorial decisions are made on the basis of journalistic relevance, public interest and editorial judgment.

Fairness and Context

We seek to present information fairly and in its proper context. Where a matter involves significant competing positions or perspectives, we endeavour to represent them accurately and without deliberately misleading emphasis.

TradeTrend does not regard balance as requiring equal weight for every claim. Information is assessed according to its evidence, relevance and credibility.

Official Statements and Public Information

Government ministries, embassies, international organisations, companies and public officials are important sources of information, particularly for announcements, policy decisions, statistics and official positions.

When reporting such material, TradeTrend seeks to make clear who is making the claim or announcement and, where relevant, distinguishes an official position from independently established fact.

Photographs and Visual Material

We make reasonable efforts to ensure that photographs and other visual material are accurately identified and appropriately sourced. Captions and credits are provided where required or available.

Images are not intended to misrepresent an event, person or situation. Where an image is illustrative rather than a photograph of the specific event being reported, appropriate context should be provided.

Corrections and Clarifications

If TradeTrend identifies a significant factual error, we seek to correct it promptly and transparently. Corrections and clarifications are made in a manner appropriate to the nature and prominence of the original error.

We value accuracy over the appearance of being infallible.

Opinion, Analysis and Reporting

News reporting, analysis, commentary and opinion are treated as distinct forms of editorial content. Where appropriate, material is identified so that readers can distinguish reported facts from interpretation, analysis or personal opinion.

TradeTrend’s editorial content may examine policies, decisions and developments critically while maintaining professional, factual and respectful language.

Use of Social Media and Digital Sources

Social-media posts from governments, ministries, embassies, international organisations, companies and public officials may be used as sources when they constitute relevant public statements or provide information of legitimate news value.

Where appropriate, TradeTrend may link to or embed the original social-media post so that readers can consult the source directly.

Social-media material is assessed with the same concern for authenticity, context and verification as other sources.

Artificial Intelligence and Editorial Work

Technology, including artificial intelligence tools, may be used in appropriate parts of the editorial and production process. Such tools do not replace editorial responsibility.

Published material remains subject to human editorial judgment, verification and review. AI-generated or AI-assisted material is not treated as authoritative merely because it has been produced by a technological system.

Public Interest

TradeTrend’s journalism is intended to inform readers about developments affecting international relations, commerce, investment, industry, economies, diplomacy and wider public life.

We aim to provide information that is useful, credible and relevant while avoiding sensationalism, deliberate misinformation and misleading presentation.

Our Commitment

TradeTrend recognises that journalism is a continuing process of verification, scrutiny and correction. This editorial policy provides a framework for our work and reflects our commitment to maintaining the confidence of our readers, sources and professional partners.

Accuracy, verification, responsible attribution, fairness, context and editorial independence remain central to our journalism.
