Message From The Editor

TradeTrend has a history that goes back to 1994, when it began as a local monthly magazine under the leadership of Salma Khanum. Over the years, the publication has evolved, and since I took over its editorial leadership in 2022, I have worked to develop its coverage of diplomacy, international relations, trade, investment, business and global affairs.

My own journalism career has been closely connected with the coverage of Pakistan's international relationships. For many years, I reported on consulates, diplomats, foreign missions and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Pakistan. That experience shaped my understanding of how diplomatic and international developments extend beyond official statements and individual events.

One of the developments during this period has been TradeTrend's country-focused special editions. We began bringing together diplomatic engagement, economic developments, trade and investment opportunities, culture and relations with Pakistan in a single publication dedicated to an individual country. TradeTrend has published such editions on South Korea, Japan, Turkey and Oman.

The objective has been to give readers a broader view of countries and their relationships with Pakistan, while connecting diplomatic developments with economic, commercial and cultural dimensions.

In July 2026, I invited Arman Sabir to join TradeTrend as Managing Editor and to develop its online edition. His experience across print, television, radio and digital journalism brought another dimension to the publication as TradeTrend moved into digital international-affairs journalism.

The online TradeTrend is being developed around a simple editorial principle: significant developments deserve more than a headline. They require context, documentation, relevant perspectives and an examination of what they mean for the relationships, economies, businesses and institutions involved.

TradeTrend therefore seeks to go beyond routine announcements and ceremonial coverage. We cover developments that have substantive relevance to diplomacy, international relations, global trade and the economy, investment, business, geopolitics, connectivity and cultural diplomacy.

Our responsibility is to provide readers with reliable information, relevant documentation and the perspectives necessary to understand the developments we cover. We do not seek to tell readers what conclusion to reach. The facts, records, documents and competing positions should allow readers to make their own judgments.

As TradeTrend continues its transition from a traditional monthly publication to a digital international-affairs and economic journalism platform, we remain committed to developing journalism that is informed by experience, research and careful reporting.
